Eschewing gunpowder treason and plot in favour of literary discourse, the Tunbridge Wells Writers will be meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, November 5th) at the Black Pig from 8:00pm onwards. We can’t promise Bangers or Catherine Wheels or even those strange little pyramid-shaped indoor fireworks that spew forth multicoloured wormcasts, and we won’t be baking potatoes or effigies of Guy Fawkes on a roaring bonfire, but we can guarantee an evening filled with sparkling conversation and glittering repartee. Probably.
Among other things we will be launching our Christmas Advent Calendar like a rocket from a milk-bottle to torch the tinselled twilight with brilliance and wonder (oooooh…) and planning the next phase of our Halloween Fright Night (aaaaaaahhhh). We may also have news on when Lipschtick, our online poetry project, will be going live and the almost-but-not-quite-there Writers of Tunbridge Wells project. And as if that wasn’t enough, we’ll also be finalising plans for our Christmas Dinner knees-up at Javabean Cafe. Gosh, we have a lot going on!
Looking at the above schedule it might seem to potential new members that the evening would be jam packed with boring old ‘business’, but trust us – we don’t hang about when it comes to crossing the i’s and dotting the t’s on this sort of thing, and there will be plenty of time for chatting and drinking and getting to know people. If you live in or around Tunbridge Wells and enjoy writing on any level why not come along and say hello. You’ll be made more than welcome.
For existing members interested in getting more involved in the nuts and bolts stuff there will also be a group ‘steering meeting’ prior to the regular meeting. Arrive an hour earlier than the official start of 8:00 (or even half an hour earlier if an hour’s cutting it a bit fine) and tell us what you would like to see happening in the group and how you would like it to develop over the coming months.
