… post with details of stuff coming up next week:
Firstly, this update from David Hensley on the “Tribal” collaboration for the Tunbridge Wells Art Fair, containing details of selected poems, the Private Viewing on Thursday evening and the proposed reading event on Friday lunchtime:
- Aborigine in TW – Louisa Polly (Elaine Gill)
- Initiation – David Smith (Neal Scrase)
- My Tribe – Jess Mookherjee (Anne Marie)
- The Starting Gate – Jess Mookherjee and David Hensley (Guy Portelli)
- Tribal Dance – David Hensley (Chris Burke)
- Tribal Marks – Peppy Scott (Mike Flight)
We have also been invited to read all the submitted poems on Friday 24th, at lunchtime (1:00) – so please let me know if you will be able to join us there – and invite anyone else (friends, family, other Writers, people who come to Words Up etc) to come along at 1pm next Friday to support the reading – entrance to the Art Fair is FREE on the Friday!
IN OTHER NEWS: Following on from the very successful multi-stranded FESTFICTION collaboration for Unfest, Postcards from the Hedge will be happening again as part of next Sunday’s (26th June) “Sunday Session” at the Tunbridge Wells Forum. This will also include a Read Your Words style open mic, and half an hour of poetry readings from Peppy Scott and David Smith (oooh, the hilarity!). Our bit will start at around 5:00, but the garden* will be open from 1:00 onward, offering a heady mix of music, art, table-tennis, and heaven knows what else. A lovely family-friendly vibe, and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Please do come and add your postcard to our collection, and maybe read it for us too as part of the open mic. Or just enjoy all the other stuff that’s going on. Especially me and Peppy.
Talking of Read Your Words, last Wednesday’s outing at Javabean was an absolute corker, with a diverse mix of readers including several first timers. Thanks again to Carolyn Gray for organising and Delightful Debbie for hosting.
FINALLY: The first “three pre-booked readings” trial run went brilliantly, and it definitely seems the way to go from now on. We have two ‘slots’ already booked (Pauline and Bryan), so if you want the last one you had better grab it quickly. If wanting more in-depth feedback feel free to share you stuff ahead of the meetup via facebook, so people can meditate, cogitate and digest accordingly…
