A very quick blog this week (Hurrah! I hear you cry), starting with a nod to our About Us page where any potential new members can read up on a typical evening with the Tunbridge Wells Writers.

Among items up for discussion this week will be updates on our Short Story project, and further details on our Breaking the Rules project, which promises to be naughtier than a naughty nightie that’s so naughty that when you put it on it melts.*

spiderShort Stories and Rule-Breaking aside, the most pressing piece of current business is our annual Halloween FRIGHT NIGHT, scheduled for November 1st. This is our fourth Fright Night, and if our previous three were anything to go by will prove hugely popular. Whether reading or listening it’s a good idea to let us know early so we can keep tabs on numbers; we will almost certainly have to go foraging for extra seating in the main bar, but forewarned is forearmed and if necessary we can try to rustle up some shooting sticks or bean bags to accommodate the overspill.

Today’s penultimate heads up is for Word Up (see what I did there?), which is happening on Wednesday night at the Forum.

AND FINALLY…

cover 3 mediumOn Thursday night there’s a Something in the Water reading evening at Tunbridge Wells Library & Museum. This will be very similar in content to the book launch at Waterstone’s, so rather than repeating myself I’ve just used the link to that event to bring everyone up to speed. This will be running from 7:00 in the children’s section of the library, and in addition to the Tunbridge Wells Writers there will also be readings from local poet Mara Bergmann.

PHEW! For a quickie that was quite, erm, long. I hope I’ve not forgotten anyone or anything, but either way you can see that Tunbridge Wells Writers keep themselves very busy. If you fancy being part of that just come along to any meeting and say hi – it’s that easy.

  1. Hurrah! – oh, that was quite long for a quickie…

    • Yerse… far too much going on for a quickie “quickie” but as quick as I could make it without resorting to bullet points or seeming terse! And don’t even get me started on all the bloody links involved: layer upon layer of the bloody things! 😀

  2. How funny – when you click on the link to Something in the Water, we are exactly a year on… ‘spooky’ #FrightNight

    • Not any more we’re not… That’s the trouble with time – it waits for no man/woman/child/thing* it just keeps on marching on.

*except maybe for doctor who and a few other fictional time-freeze devices like the queen’s nose and thingummy’s magic torch etc
